QR codes have opened up a world of possibilities for any business wishing to collide their print and online marketing efforts. QR codes have been popular in Japan for quite some time and have finally gained traction last year in the U.S.
Thanks to a 30% tolerance in readability, businesses can really push some clever designs for quick response codes. Besides looking good, this can also make them more successful. Many large companies have embraced the technology creating very clever implementations. Not to mention, one tattoo artist created the first animated interactive tattoo using QR codes.
The marketers of True Blood, a series on HBO about vampires living amongst us, has taken leaps and bounds implementing social marketing including the above QR code they utilized in Season 3 fitting the series nicely. True Blood, currently on Season 4, is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Its raunchy, almost pornographic, gory, dramatic and I love it. True Blood is currently my favorite cable show, and I’ve began reading the 11-book series (soon to be 12) as well. Did I mention I’m a Facebook fan too?
To the left, you will also see another cool QR code based on Pac-Man as a prime example that anything is possible. Months ago, our print company hosted a QR code treasure hunt which had mixed results. I wish we would have been a little more creative with our designs.
